Frequently Asked Questions

Maybe you have a question that can be answered here. Maybe you have other questions. If you have other questions, please contact us and let us know what questions you may have before establishing care. Mindful You is on your side, always.

  • We work primarily with adult clients with a variety of mental health concerns, ranging from pervasive anxiety and depression to general aimlessness in life and everything in between.

Mindful You only serves clients in the state of Minnesota at this time, and we currently only offer virtual services.

AuDHD/Neurodivergence coaching is for those who are on the spectrum or struggle with organization, impulsivity, or focus. At this point, coaching is also only offered to adults who are seeking tangible skills to improve quality of live over a period of five-to-ten hour-long meetings.

  • A Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) is a mental health professional trained in psychotherapy and social support systems. LICSWs hold a master’s degree in social work (MSW) and complete extensive clinical training, including thousands of hours under direct supervision, and have completed their licensure requirements. They are qualified to provide therapy, diagnose mental health conditions, and help clients navigate life challenges, emotional difficulties, and systemic stressors.

A Licensed Psychologist (LP) holds a doctoral degree in psychology (PhD or PsyD) and is trained in psychological assessment, testing, diagnosis, and evidence-based psychotherapy. LPs are uniquely qualified to conduct formal psychological evaluations (including ADHD and personality testing) and also provide therapy for a range of mental health diagnoses and concerns.

  • No. We are not medical prescribers. Only medical doctors, psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners can prescribe psychotropic medication. There is a broader push in some states to broaden prescribing privileges to include licensed psychologists, though Minnesota is not one of the states.

There is always a possibility we increase the scope of the clinic to include psychiatric services at some point. Unfortunately, it is not at this time.

  • The contracting process with insurance companies is difficult to predict. We are currently on the way towards being contracted with these companies. At this point, we are only contracted to bill through Aetna, though many other contracts are coming down the pipeline.

If we do not accept your insurance at this time, we can provide you with what’s called a superbill. A superbill is an itemized receipt that we can provide after your sessions. It includes important information such as the date of service, the type of service provided, your clinician’s credentials, and appropriate diagnosis codes. You have the chance to submit the superbill to your insurance company to request full or partial reimbursement for the cost of your session. Reimbursement rates vary depending on your specific plan, so we always recommend calling your insurance provider to ask about your out-of-network mental health coverage.

  • At Mindful You, our standard out-of-pocket fees range from $150 to $200 per 55-minute individual therapy session, depending on the provider's credentials.

The rates for a ADHD or personality assessments range from $1,750 and $2,500, depending on the type of assessment you are interested in pursuing. See ADHD and Personality Testing for more detailed information.

AuDHD/Neurodivergence coaching costs $100 per meeting.

We want to be upfront about costs because we do not believe it is fair to learn about the rates after already reaching out for services. Some clinicians may also offer extended sessions or psychological testing services at different rates, which will be clearly discussed with you prior to scheduling.

If you have questions about fees, insurance, or superbills, we’re happy to assist you during your initial consultation.

  • The frequency of sessions depends on your needs, goals, and preferences. We will work together to create a schedule that feels right for you.

Most clients begin with weekly sessions, which help build consistency, a strong therapeutic relationship, and an opportunity to practice skills often. Over time, some clients may shift to biweekly or monthly appointments as progress is made. But there simply is no one-size-fits-all approach to frequency of sessions — we want to make sure we meet everyone where they are at and plan for appropriate treatment based on individual uniqueness.

For psychological testing or assessment services, frequency and duration may vary depending on the scope of evaluation.
